“Does it snow in Peru?” To answer the thread, I had to research the climate of Peru, the geography of Peru and the weather of its region. Let’s join hands to explore Peru.
Due to its proximity to the equator, Peru experiences a tropical or subtropical climate, which means the temperature remains warmer to hot throughout the year with slight season differences.
Snowfall is rare in the low-lying areas of the country like Lima – the capital of Peru, Trujillo, Piura, Chiclayo, etc. These lowland cities receive small or no snowfall during winter.
Contrary to lowland areas, the higher elevated regions receive snowfall due to higher elevation. The Highland regions or Andean regions receive excessive snow on their high peaks. Cities including Cusco, Huaraz, Arequipa, and Puno are located at higher altitudes, which causes great diversity in the country’s geography.
