If I am a cinephile and am wondering about snow, should I choose Egypt as my winter destination? No. It does not snow in Egypt. Multiple factors contribute to the lack of snow or rare snow in Egypt.

The fact is Egypt experiences a desert climate, which is characterized by hot and dry summers with mild winters. It is not straightforward to say Egypt does not receive snowfall; it does, but that is often confined to the tops of some mountains.

Egypt is a country where the Mediterranean Sea borders the north, the Gaza Strip and Israel to the northeast, the Red Sea to the east, Sudan to the south, and Libya to the west. More than 90% of Egyptian land is deserted, and the rest of the country’s land contains some water bodies or mountains. Due to topography, the Egyptian climate is desert-influenced, which means the climate here is hot and dry.

Somewhere in the country, there is a little difference in climate due to its surrounding water bodies and the proximity of the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. This climate is not suitable for snow.

The temperature in winter never drops to freezing point; this is why the majority of the country does not receive snowfall in its parameters. Following is the effect of diverse geographies on the country’s climate:

River Nile: The river Nile helps lower the sheer effect of climate adversity. It causes slightly moderate temperatures compared to the rest of Egypt.
